This is what happens when I can’t think of anything to draw and my Netflix account recommends unsuccessful Don Bluth movies.

Been making doodles of characters from games I like, but I know they’re awful. Sort of guilty pleasures, or stuff I liked as kid, but found it hard to play in retrospect.
First up is Claymates, which came out from the guys who made Clayfighter for the SNES. I was like 6 when this came out, and being obsessed with making characters out of sculpty or play doh at the time, these games definitely got my attention. And looking back, Claymates and Clayfighter had great ideas in them (I mean who can hate Blue Suede Goo?), but holy crap they are almost impossible to play now.
While Clayfighter was obviously a fighter (and the more successful of the two), Claymates was a platformer. You play as this little blue clay ball with hands who could find little bits of clay scattered throughout the land, and use them to transform to different characters based on the clay’s color. I loved this premise, but the characters you could turn into were bland, and the worlds you visited were just generic. Watch in wonder as your clay character becomes OOZY, the mouse that grits his teeth and…runs real fast. Observe as you turn into GOOPY, the fish who..blows bubbles. Whats this? You morphed into MUCKSTER, the cat who…is a cat. You get the idea.
I think the developers were really betting on these guys taking off because they trademarked each of the characters and their names, which you get to see every time you boot the game. Oh, and the actual gameplay itself is boring, generic platformer stuff that handles like a shopping cart.
But hey, I was fan of the game then, and I still think the idea has some merit. Since “artsy indie platformer” is well established genre these days, I’d like to see what one does with 200 pounds of plasticine.

Isn’t that great?

September can’t come fast enough. Seriously. I need this game in my life. It reminds me why I love cartoons and video games and music all over again.

Hope Niko doesn’t mind if I steal this, but I always see these and I wonder if anyone would ask if I posted one.

Been playing a lot of imaginary poker, lately.
They’re afraid of ya, they won’t touch ya, and most importantly, THEY WON’T SQUISH YA!
Oh it’s just not enough!!
